I had an Unraid home server that was functioning flawlessly until it began to cause me annoyance. It started experiencing numerous issues, such as when the server was online, it wouldn’t recognise if it was connected to the Unraid server website or its IP address.

I’m on the hunt for a plug-and-play NAS device. I’ve been eyeing UGreen NASync over Synology. What are your thoughts on it? (I’m primarily looking for a media server).

I ended up just building a box after looking for the perfect NAS and finding it didn’t exist. The software is usually just crap or the hardware is underwhelming. Got a Node 804 case to slap in plenty of HDD space. Running NixOS so I’m in control of the software. In retrospect I wish I had gotten a rackmount type case. Tossed in an Arc GPU for better transcoding shortly after the initial setup.

I have the same case. I still have the drives; however, I sold the rest of the hardware.

Do you have a repo with your NixOS config for your NAS? TrueNAS and Home Assistant are the last non-NixOS VMs I’m running haha
