i tried to run cyberpunk for hours and didnt work. im back to windows 11 where stuff work

i have dodi repack of cyberpunk,i tested it on ubuntu after i installed the drivers for my gpu. i used bottles, terminal wine, lutris, steam add non steam app with proton, heroic. and none of them worked. only wine did and the screen was black but sound was there so still useless. i searched for hours and tried everything nothing worked.

i just nuked the ubuntu parition and bios place gone back to windows. launched the game and it worked fine.

i will never use linux again until the gaming is fixed.

people that read linux is good for gaming, dont get scammed like i did. stay on windows if you care about gaming.

note: this post isnt a ragebait im serious this did happen.

Locking post. I wish someone had reported this rage-bait[1] post sooner.

just cause it happened doesn’t make it not ragebait. posting “linux is garbage” to a linux forum, when your problem wasn’t even really a linux problem is very much rage bait.

This ice cream shop is trash! Because I took a chocolate and cream cone and ran away without paying, and when I was outside I tripped over my shoelace and my ice cone ended up in a puddle where a dog was pissing. 0/10 would never go that shop again.

It honestly reads like this 🤣

Use whatever works for you, man. An OS is just a tool, there’s no point in struggling with it. I don’t generally play games (apart from some UT’99 match), so Linux suits me perfectly. It’s ok to use something else, if your use case is different.

You’re 100% right and I’m glad you’ve made this post.

Haters will vote you down but they aren’t running the dodi cbp repack.

Valve’s testing indicates that Cyberpunk 2077 is Verified on Steam Deck. This game is fully functional on Steam Deck, and works great with the built-in controls and display.

Isn’t Cyberpunk DRM free? Why do you need a repack? If the bit that didn’t work was the repack’s self-extractor/installer I guess that would make a little more sense.

Did you try to run it from an NTFS-drive? Because I‘ve had trouble with that too. Once I moved everything to my ext4-drive, the games I had trouble with, worked

lol skill issue but the skill floor is so low you’d need to be Hermes Conrad to limbo under it like you did. Impressive.

Different OS, different apps. When you move to another OS, you move your apps too, not expecting to run everything Windows does. If you really want to play that game, stay on Windows. Although you probably did something wrong, since others can play cyberpunk fine (maybe not the cracked version though, or a special pack for it – just vanilla game).

Sorry that Cyberpunk didn’t work for you, that’s understandably frustrating. I hope you get what you want from your return to Windows.

If you ever decide to try Linux again, you might benefit from asking people for assistance before you get so frustrated. I’ve personally played Cyberpunk for hundreds of hours on Linux, so I know it certainly does work. There’s probably something going on with that specific repack you’re using that makes it weird to get running.

Did you tried other version besides Dodi before hand? Like fitG or idk cs.rin version if it exist?

Seems a lot of hassle if you didnt dual boot than trying different version.

But yeah, there’s no “it just works” on Linux fot every person since it’s always case by case basis

I think Bazzite specifically targeted gaming if you wanna try again.

I’ve been playing cyberpunk ages on my Linux pc. Installed and worked first time and plays perfectly. Think it’s just a user error or lack of skill. But enjoy windows anyway, why did you even bother trying Linux? Windows is great for the average user who just wants to turn it on and not think about it.
